House Afternoon – House Identity

We had our first house afternoon of the academic year, where pupils from Primary 1 to 7 came together. The focus of our house afternoon was house identity.

We had different tasks to complete: create a house crest co-operatively, create an individual house badge and create some Halloween bunting for the PSA party.

Each of the houses were awarded house credits for demonstrating our whole school social skill of friendship, our learning power of co-operation, tidying up and for the management of the house by the house captains.

2016/ 2017 House Captains

On Monday 29th August we had our first house meeting of the year. The Primary 7 pupils performed their House Captain speeches in front of their houses. Every pupil then got a chance to vote for the girl and boy they would like as their House Captains for their house.

Staff were incredibly proud of all the Primary 7 candidates. Congratulations to our newly appointed House Captains.

Clarence – Sophia and Finlay W

Henderson – Savanna and Finlay CN

Inverleith – Vera and Daniel

Raeburn – Lexy and Thomas

Christmas House Afternoon 2015

Our Christmas House Afternoon was on Wednesday 2nd December. We got together in our houses: Clarence, Henderson, Inverleith and Raeburn.

The task was to work together to create a Christmas star, tree or reindeer decoration in our house colour. We also created paper chains. All these fantastic decorations can be seen brightening up the school.

We were given house merits by staff for how we worked together and for our whole school social focus for personal responsibility.

Our social skills targetted were:

  • co-operative working
  • supporting each other
  • kind words and encouragement
  • personal responsbility

House News – November 2015

The house captains will soon be helping to organise our Christmas House Afternoon when the children will work together to create items to help decorate the school for Christmas. No doubt the annual paper chain making extravaganza will be popular again this year!
Well done to Inverleith who were last months winning House and will shortly have their reward of an extra playtime.
This term our whole school Social Target, for which the children can earn Golden Tokens, is Personal Responsibility. We are encouraging the children to consider their own actions and what they as individuals can do to support others and consider how their actions can impact on the wider school community, as well as owning their mistakes.

House News – October 2015

We are very proud of all the P7 pupils who gave inspirational speeches in the race to become 2015-16 house captains. However, we could only have 8 house captains and our successful candidates for this year are –
INVERLEITH – Ashoka and Millie
CLARENCE – Xanthe and Matas
HENDERSON – Oran and Marcia
RAEBURN – Zac and Eden
The house captains led their first house afternoon last week. They had to create house bunting, a house motto and a house bag reflector to keep safe in the dark winter months. Staff were impressed by the cooperation and team work within the houses and look forward to seeing the houses work together at house events throughout the year.
